Investment team

Bernard Gautier
Former Group Deputy CEO

Bernard Gautier joined Wendel in 2003 and became a member of the Group’s Executive Board in 2005. In this capacity, he has contributed to developing and implementing the Group’s strategy, alongside the Chairman of the Executive Board. 

Specifically, since 2009 he has headed the management company Winvest Conseil (AIFM), which is in charge of all of the Group’s unlisted investments (except SGI Africa). While leading and developing the investment team, he has managed several value-creating acquisitions for Wendel, such as Editis (France, 2004), Deutsch (United States, 2006), Stahl (Netherlands, 2006) and more recently, IHS (Africa, 2013) and Constantia Flexibles (Austria, 2014). After opening Wendel Japan in 2007, Bernard Gautier also played a significant role in the development of Wendel’s international network, in Asia, the United States and Africa.

Before joining Wendel, Bernard worked for 18 years as a consultant in organization and strategy, first at Andersen Consulting, then at Bain & Co. He became a partner in Bain & Co. in 1995, then Senior Partner in charge of the international Media and Telecom practice. Between 2000 and 2003, Bernard was General Partner of Atlas Venture’s funds V and VI and in charge of the Paris office, as well as founder and Managing Partner of real-estate management company Lineis and the Altineis real-estate investment companies. 

A graduate of Ecole Supérieure d’Electricité (SUPELEC), he has also been president of France’s “Junior-Enterprises” confederation and was a founder of the Supelec Forum and the student newspaper Cactus

Stéphanie Besnier

Managing Director

Based in Paris, Stéphanie Besnier is a Managing Director and co-head of investment activity in France, Belgium and Switzerland. She has played a role in several Wendel investments, including Deutsch, IHS and Constantia Flexibles.

Stéphanie participates in the search for investment opportunities, especially in France. She began her career in the Treasury department of the Ministry of Finance, then worked at the Agence des participations de l’État, the agency that manages the French government’s shareholdings, where she was in charge of the government’s investments in SNCF and SNCM and of the Eurotunnel restructuring. She is a graduate of Polytechnique, Corps des Ponts et Chaussées, and the Paris School of Economics.

Roland Lienau

Managing Director

Roland Lienau is Managing Director and member of the Investment Committee. He is a German citizen who graduated from ESCP-EAP European School of Management. 

He was in charge of financing and structuring operations in capital markets in London and Frankfurt. He is well versed in European equity markets. He began his career in 1988 at Enskilda Securities (Wallenberg Group) in London and Enskilda Effekten in Frankfurt where he set up and developed the equities department for the German market. 

Roland Lienau then worked for Paribas from 1994 to 1999 where he was in charge of capital markets operations and the development of Paribas's investment activities in Germany.

In 1999, he moved to Deutsche Bank where, as Managing Director, he managed equity market investments up to 2004, when he was put in charge of all financing and structuring operations in the German markets. Member of the Operations Committee.

Jérôme Michiels

Jérôme Michiels was appointed Chief Financial Officer of the Wendel group on October 1, 2015. He is also the Director of Operational Resources. Jérôme is a member of Wendel's Management Committee and a voting member of the Investment Committee. 

Jérôme joined Wendel at the end of 2006 as Investment Director and was promoted to Director in January 2010. He was appointed Managing Director on January 1, 2012 and joined the Investment Committee. From 2002 to 2006, he was a chargé d’affaires with the investment fund BC Partners. Prior to that, he worked as a consultant in the Boston Consulting Group from 1999 to 2002, carrying out strategic missions in Europe, particularly in the fields of distribution, transportation, telecommunications and financial services. He is a graduate of HEC.

Josselin de Roquemaurel
Executive Vice-President, Managing Director
Josselin de Roquemaurel joined Wendel's European Investment team as a Managing Director in 2018. He started his carreer in 2001 at JPMorgan in London as an Analyst and then as an Associate in Corporate Finance. He then joined Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) in London where he worked between 2005 and 2017, most recently as a Director responsible for PE activities in France. 

He is a graduate of Ecole Normale Supérieure in (Fontenay / Saint-Cloud) and HEC.

Jérôme Richard
Operating Partner
Jérôme Richard joined Wendel as Operating Partner. Jérôme is based in Paris and reports to the Executive Board. Alongside the Investment team, he will closely work with the senior management of our portfolio companies.

Jérôme began his career at Boston Consulting Group during eight years, developing expertise in operational transformation and turnaround, mainly in the healthcare and industrial sectors.

In 2010, Jérôme joined Schneider Electric and took-on leadership positions in Purchasing then in Sales & Business Development. In 2016, Jérôme was appointed CEO of John Paul (sold to Accor), a Concierge services operator supported by an advanced digital platform.

Jérôme graduated from CentraleSupélec in 2002 (Master of Sciences).

Xavier Lemonnier

Xavier Lemonnier joined the Investment team in Paris as a Principal in 2018.

Prior to joining us, Xavier worked at BC Partners for 8 years as a Principal. He started his career as an Analyst at Merrill Lynch. 

He graduated from Ecole Polytechnique with an Engineer’s degree in Economics and in Applied Mathematics. He also holds an MSc in Corporate Finance and in Quantitative Finance from ENSAE.

Romain Dimus

Romain Dimus joined the Investment team in Paris as an Associate. 

Prior to joining Wendel, Romain worked at BCG as a Senior Associate. In previous years he also completed internships at Lazard and Deloitte. 

Romain holds a degree in Management from ESCP Europe as well as a BA in Applied Mathematics from Sorbonne University.

Elisa Philip joined Wendel in 2018 as an Associate in the investment team in Paris.

Prior to joining Wendel, Elisa worked at the Estin & Co as a Strategy Consultant. In previous years she completed internships at Quadrille Capital, Ardian and BNP Paribas.
Elisa holds a degree in Management from HEC.

William Nottin

William Nottin joined Wendel in 2018 as an Analyst in the Investment Team in Paris. William graduated from ESCP-Europe in 2017, with a specialisation in Entrepreneurship.

After an internship at Total Energie Gaz as a financial controller, he had a series of experiences as an Analyst: fisrt in London for Tikehau Investment Management, then back in Paris at Technip and Artemis – Financière Pinault.

Benoît Drillaud
Deputy CFO

Benoit Drillaud joined the Wendel Finance Department in September 2004 after five years at PricewaterhouseCoopers as an auditor. 

He is a graduate of a Master of Finance from ESCP and a DEA in Economy of the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. He leads the financial and accounting team under the responsibility of Jérôme Michiels.

Sophie Goasdoue

Sophie Goasdoue joined the Financial team as a Consolidation Manager in 2018. Since April 2019, she has the position of Accounting Director. 

Previously, Sophie worked as an Audit & Consolidation Manager at Grant-Thornton and as a Consolidation Manager at Deloitte and as Head of Consolidation at BPI France. During her last experience she was also responsible for the IFRS 9 transition project.

Sophie holds a degree in chartered accountancy.

Haythem Benslimane joined Wendel in Paris as a Consolidation Officer in the Financial team.

Previously, he worked as a Consolidation and Reporting Manager at Ernst & Young and as Consultant at BM&A.

Nabil Bennis joined the Wendel Finance team in Paris as a Valuation Officer, in July 2017.
Nabil graduated from Audencia with a Master in Management and a specialization in Corporate Finance. During his studies, he took advantage of an exchange program at Boston University and interned at Société Générale, Vulcain and Rothschild, mainly in M&A.
After graduating in 2013, he worked for Sorgem Evaluation and Deloitte Finance, first as Valuation Consultant and then as Junior Manager Valuation.

Elisa Muntean joined in July 2014 the Directorate of financial communication Wendel. Within the team, Elisa contributes to the application of the financial communication and investor relations strategy under Olivier Allot’s responsibility. 

She was Senior financial auditor at Ernst & Young since 2011. Elisa graduated a MSc in Finance and a MSc in Management from Grenoble Business School.

At Wendel since 2007, Olivier Allot has been Deputy Head of Investor Relations until 2013. He started his career in 1996 at SBF Bourse de Paris. He was spokesperson for four years, and then became Investor Relations Officer until 2007. 

He contributed actively to the merger of the Stock Exchanges of Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels and Lisbon, and also to the merger of Euronext and the NYSE. Mr. Allot graduated from the Sorbonne, has a master’s degree in Banking, Finance and Insurance, a master’s degree in Management and administration, and holds the CEFA and SFAF diplomas.

Lucile Roch joined the Financial Communication Department as an Investor Relations in March 2019.

Prior to joining Wendel, Lucile was an Investors Relations officer first at Société Générale and then at Korian.  
Lucile holds a MBA in International Business realised in Taiwan. She also graduated in Corporate Finance from ESSCA.

Director of Communications and Sustainable Development, Executive Board Secretary

Christine Anglade-Pirzadeh was appointed Director of Communications and Sustainable Development in October 2011. Member of Wendel's Management Committee.

Christine Anglade-Pirzadeh was Director of Communication of the French Financial Markets Authority’s (AMF) which she joined in 2000. She was Policy Officer with the French Prime Minister's Office (Direction des Media) from 1998 to 2000. She began her career in the editorial staff of la Correspondance de la Presse.

Christine Anglade-Pirzadeh holds a Master in European and International Law (Paris I) and a Master Degree in Communication law (Paris II).

Within the communication team, Caroline Decaux will contribute to the application of the communication strategy under Christine Anglade Pirzadeh’s direct responsibility.

She was previously senior consultant in corporate and financial communication at Publicis Consultants since 2009.

She began her career in a insurance company, subsidiary of Groupama.

Tax Director

Peter Meredith joined Wendel as Group Tax Director in March 2013. He is a member of Wendel's Management Committee.

Peter has notably worked within national and international corporate tax departments throughout his career, as Tax Director of the GTM Group (1989-2000), then of Capgemini (2000-2005), and finally as Tax Director of the Bouygues Construction Group.

Sophie Parise holds post graduate degrees in corporate and tax law from the University of Cergy Pontoise and the University of Montpellier.
She started her professional career with Wendel (CGIP at the time) in 2001 as a junior member of the tax team, with a main focus on tax compliance.

She has gradually taken charge of tax audits, the supervision of tax compliance and the tax coordination of certain M&A projects and deals.
Hugues Tommy-Martin

Hugues Tommy-Martin joined the Wendel tax team in Paris as a tax advisor, in November 2017.
Previously, Hugues worked for the law firm Arsene Taxand as a tax lawyer, where he took charge of tax compliance for a listed French client. Hugues graduated from Université Paris V Descartes with a master in tax law and is a lawyer at the Paris Bar.

Etienne Grobon
Director of Internal Audit
Etienne joined Wendel in 2018 as Director of Internal Audit. Before joining Wendel, Etienne was Senior Director, Audit and Insurance at Dassault Systèmes in Paris. He headed a group-level team with responsibility for the full scope of Internal Audit and Internal Control. He was also responsible for the group's worldwide insurance program.

During these 8 years, he played an active role in the integration of companies acquired by Dassault Systèmes so as to ensure they adopted the best internal control practices. Previously, he worked for 15 years in auditing and risk management, first at the Bouygues group and then at Arthur Andersen, heading compliance projects related to the US Sarbanes-Oxley regulation. Finally, he was a founding member of Protiviti in France, where he was in charge of internal auditing and risk management. 

Etienne is a graduate of HEC Paris.

Xavier Bouaoud joined Wendel as Internal Auditor, reporting to Etienne Grobon in Paris.

Prior joining Wendel, Xavier was Audit and Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) Manager within Ernst & Young for 5 years. He mainly worked on large industrial accounts in statutory audit and consolidation. 

In addition to a 6-month internship in Congo, he also acquired experience in Africa during his business trips to audit the accounts of subsidiaries of an oil company.

Xavier graduated from Neoma Business School.

Sébastien Willerval  began his career in the Legal and fiscal department of BNP in 1998 before leaving for Ernst & Young Corporate Finance from 1999 to 2002.

Sebastian Willerval holds a DESS (French equivalent of Master degree) in Business and Tax Law from the University of Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne and a Master’s degree in private law - commercial and taxation law from the University Paris II Panthéon-Assas.

Antoine Stosskopf joined the Wendel’s legal department in 2015 as legal counsel. Antoine assists in M&A and financial operations. 
Previously, he worked with the legal team of Danone for 3 years and did internships with different law firms, notably Shearman & Sterling, and in companies such as L’Oréal.
Antoine graduated with a CAPA degree, a French-British law degree, an LMM in International Business Law (University of Exeter - UK) and a Master’s degree in Business Law.

Caroline Bertin Delacour joined Wendel in 2009. She is in charge of governance, compliance and litigation. She is also a member of Wendel's Management Committee.

As an attorney, she practiced tax law for 10 years with the firm Cleary Gottlieb, then 10 years in mergers and acquisitions at August & Debouzy, where she became partner in 2002. Caroline Bertin Delacour is co-author of "Highs and Lows of Modern Finance" (2013) and author of "Sovereign Wealth Funds: these new actors of the global economy" (2009).

Registered at the Paris Bar between 1990 and 2009, she holds a Master’s in Business Law from the University Paris II Panthéon-Assas, a Master in Taxation from the University Paris V René Descartes and an LLM from New York University.

Muriel Vesan joined Wendel as Compliance Officer within the General Secretariat.

Muriel has over 10 years of experience in the field of risk and compliance in the financial sector.

Prior to joining Wendel, Muriel worked for 6 years as a Compliance Manager at Invesco Asset Management S.A. Previously, she worked for 5 years as a Manager Consultant at Kurt Salmon after having worked in Luxembourg at Amundi and then EY. 

Muriel holds a master's degree in Financial Law and Financial Crime Law from the University of Cergy-Pontoise in partnership with ESSEC Business School and a Master in Political Science from the University of Pavia.

Michel Tournier a rejoint Wendel en février 2019. Michel était auparavant Directeur des systèmes d’information - Technology Core Solution Group | EMEA / APAC chez Ingram Micro Commerce & Lifecycle Services.

Michel a plus de vingt-trois ans d'expérience en management des systèmes d’information dans plusieurs secteurs de l'industrie.

Il a commencé sa carrière en 1996 chez Cofidis, où il a participé à la mise en place de filiales au Portugal et en Argentine pendant cinq ans.

Puis, après trois annés chez Louis Vuitton en Amérique latine, en tant que DSI régional, il a rejoint le groupe Shiseido.

Fin 2012, il rejoint ANOVO en tant que DSI du groupe. Après trois années d'intense centralisation, optimisation et restructuration, Ingram Micro rachète ANOVO.

Aziz joined the Group in 1994 as Senior Accountant and IT Manager of Marine-Wendel. 

He holds a university and technical degree in computer science, a Master’s degree in applied computer science in the corporate environment, and a diploma in accounting and financial studies (DECF).

Human Resources Director

Marie-Hélène Dorat was promoted DRH in 2016. Member of Wendel's Management Committee.

Marie-Hélène joined Wendel in February 2009 as Compensation and Benefits Manager. 

Prior to Wendel, she worked for 15 years in various fields of finance. In 1997, she moved into Human Resources, first at Crédit Agricole Indosuez (CA CIB) and then in different international consulting firms, including Aon Hewitt and Right Management.

She is a graduate of ESC Rouen (Neoma BS).

Melanie joined Wendel in 2008 as a payroll manager. She is currently responsible for payroll and social reporting for France.

Melanie began her career in accounting firms including Deloitte. She holds a bachelor in HR.

Fabienne Porquier
Human Resources Manager
Fabienne Porquier joined Wendel in 2003. She is responsible for managing employee share ownership and savings plans. She also works as human resources support to Luxembourg and Morocco offices. 

Fabienne began her career in human resources at Aérospatiale, before joining the human resources department at Umicore France in 1990, where she spent nearly 13 years working successively first as the manager of personnel administration and then as payroll manager at the head office in Bagnolet. 
She holds a post-graduate degree in Business Administration from the IAE in Poitiers and a Master’s in Applied Foreign Languages (English and Spanish).
